Just Cause 3, the much-anticipated iteration in Square Enix Holdings Co. Ltd.’s (OTCMKTS:SQNXF) long-running franchise, is now available for pre-order on Xbox One. According to the pre-order page for Just Cause 3 at the official Xbox web store, fans can also get a copy of the previous game in the series, Just Cause 2, as a free download via Backward Compatibility on Xbox One.Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One, via the Backward Compatibility feature, is enjoying an edge over rival console Sony Corp.’s (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4, which does not have such support. After Fallout 4, which included a free copy of Fallout 3, and Gears of War Ultimate Edition, which featured all previous Gears of War games via the innovative feature, Just Cause is now the third major release to jump on the Backward Compatibility bandwagon.
But there seems to be a catch in this particular pre-order offer. The bottom of the pre-order page contains “Through Just Cause 3 release up to 90 days following” along with the usual disclaimers for any backward compatible title. This is a first. Does this mean that Microsoft is going toward a backward compatible rental system like the PlayStation Now service? We all know that the games we already own on Xbox 360 will not have to be bought again to play on the Xbox One via the Backwards Compatibility feature, but Microsoft has not revealed much information about the backward compatible titles that we are going to receive as pre-order bonuses. Does this mean that the pre-order bonuses will last only a set period of time? The above statement suggests so. Obviously, this is all speculation for now and until we hear an official announcement from Microsoft on the matter, we ask you not to panic and wait.
The game has always provided its players with action that seems to be adapted directly from some Hollywood action movie. The game has its fair share of stunts, explosions, gun fights, and a lot more. Just Cause 3 is set to release on December 1 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
